Description

What is this formula?

The Ideal Gas Law relates pressure, volume, temperature, and the amount of gas in a thermodynamic system. It is one of the most important equations in thermodynamics and describes the behavior of gases under many practical engineering and scientific conditions.

Example

Given:

n = 2 mol

T = 300 K

V = 0.050 m³

R = 8.314 J/mol·K


Formula:

P = (nRT)/V


Substitution:

P = (2 × 8.314 × 300) / 0.050


Result:

P = 99768 Pa ≈ 99.8 kPa
