Kelvin to Rankine Conversion

\[R = \frac{9}{5}K\]

Variables

Ktemperature in kelvin (K)
Rtemperature in degrees Rankine (°R)

Description

What is this formula?

This formula converts a temperature from kelvin (K) to degrees Rankine (°R). Both Kelvin and Rankine are absolute temperature scales, but Kelvin uses Celsius-sized increments while Rankine uses Fahrenheit-sized increments.

When to use it

Use this formula whenever a kelvin temperature must be converted to Rankine for thermodynamic analysis, aerospace engineering, gas law calculations, or industrial systems using imperial units.

Example

Convert 300 K to Rankine.

Data:

K = 300 K

Formula:

R = 9*K/5

Substitution:

R = 9*300/5

Result:

R = 540 °R

Applications

- Thermodynamic calculations

- Aerospace engineering

- Heat transfer analysis

- Gas property calculations

- Power generation systems

- Engineering systems using imperial units
