Magnetic Permeability Relation

Magnetic Permeability Relation
\[B=\mu H\]

Variables

Bmagnetic flux density (T)
mumagnetic permeability (H/m)
Hmagnetic field intensity (A/m)

Description

What is this formula?

This formula calculates the magnetic flux density inside a material subjected to a magnetic field. Magnetic permeability determines how easily a material supports magnetic field formation.

When to use it

Use this equation when analyzing magnetic materials, transformers, inductors, electromagnets, and electromagnetic field propagation in matter.

Example

A magnetic material has a permeability of 2.5×10^-3 H/m and is subjected to a magnetic field intensity of 1800 A/m. Calculate the magnetic flux density.

Data:

mu = 2.5×10^-3 H/m

H = 1800 A/m

Formula:

B = mu*H

Substitution:

B = 2.5×10^-3*1800

Result:

B = 4.5 T

Applications

- Electromagnetic material analysis

- Transformer core design

- Magnetic shielding

- Inductor engineering

- Electrical machine design
