Curie Law Magnetization

Curie Law Magnetization
\[M=\frac{CH}{T}\]

Variables

Mmagnetization (A/m)
CCurie constant
Hmagnetic field intensity (A/m)
Tabsolute temperature (K)

Description

What is this formula?

This formula calculates the magnetization of a paramagnetic material according to Curie's Law. The magnetization is directly proportional to the magnetic field intensity and inversely proportional to the absolute temperature.

When to use it

Use this equation when studying paramagnetic materials, temperature-dependent magnetization, and magnetic susceptibility in weak magnetic fields.

Example

A paramagnetic material has a Curie constant of 0.85 and is subjected to a magnetic field intensity of 1800 A/m at a temperature of 300 K. Calculate the magnetization.

Data:

C = 0.85

H = 1800 A/m

T = 300 K

Formula:

M = (C*H)/T

Substitution:

M = (0.85*1800)/300

Result:

M = 5.1 A/m

Applications

- Paramagnetic material analysis

- Magnetic susceptibility studies
