Rffeedback resistor (Ω)
R1ground resistor (Ω)

Description

What is this formula?

The Non-Inverting Op-Amp Gain formula calculates the voltage amplification of a non-inverting operational amplifier configuration. In this circuit, the output signal remains in phase with the input signal.

When to use it

Use this formula when designing or analyzing operational amplifier circuits where high input impedance and positive gain are required.

Example

A non-inverting amplifier uses a feedback resistor of 90 kΩ and a ground resistor of 10 kΩ.

Given:

Rf = 90 kΩ

R1 = 10 kΩ

Formula:

Av = 1 + (Rf / R1)

Substitution:

Av = 1 + (90 / 10)

Result:

Av = 10

The operational amplifier provides a voltage gain of 10.

Applications

Audio preamplifiers, sensor signal conditioning, active filters, instrumentation amplifiers, and analog electronic systems.
