Uniform Linear Motion - Distance

Uniform Linear Motion - Distance
\[d = v t\]

Variables

ddistance traveled (m)
vvelocity (m/s)
ttime elapsed (s)

Description

What is this formula?

This formula calculates the distance traveled by an object moving at constant velocity in a straight line.

When to use it

Use this equation when the velocity remains constant and there is no acceleration during the motion.

Example

If a car moves at 20 m/s for 15 s:

d = 20 × 15 = 300 m

Applications

Transportation analysis, motion calculations, industrial automation, conveyor systems, and introductory physics.
