Description
What is this formula?
The Systemic Vascular Resistance Index (SVRI) estimates the resistance that the systemic circulation offers to blood flow, adjusted for body surface area through the cardiac index.
When to use it
Use this formula in hemodynamic monitoring, shock evaluation, vasopressor management, and cardiovascular assessment when cardiac index is available.
Example
Data:
MAP = 85 mmHg
CVP = 5 mmHg
CI = 2.8 L/min/m²
Formula:
SVRI = ((MAP − CVP) × 80) / CI
Substitution:
SVRI = ((85 − 5) × 80) / 2.8
Result:
SVRI = 2285.71 dyn·s·m²/cm⁵
