Description
What is this formula?
Spherical Tank Volume calculates the total internal volume of a spherical storage tank.
The formula is based on the exact geometric volume of a sphere expressed in terms of internal diameter.
Spherical tanks are commonly used for pressurized gases, liquefied petroleum gas, cryogenic fluids, and industrial storage applications where uniform stress distribution is important.
When to use it
Use this formula when the storage vessel is a complete sphere and the objective is to calculate its full internal capacity.
Example
A spherical LPG tank has an internal diameter of 6 m.
Data:
D = 6 m
Formula:
V = πD³ / 6
Substitution:
V = π × 6³ / 6
Result:
V = 113.10 m³
The full internal volume of the spherical tank is approximately 113.10 m³.
Applications
- LPG storage tanks
- Pressurized gas vessels
- Cryogenic storage
- Chemical storage systems
- Industrial pressure vessels
- Tank capacity calculation
