Description
What is this formula?
Haulage Production Rate calculates the theoretical material production delivered by a single haul truck per hour.
The formula combines truck payload capacity and cycle time to estimate the hourly hauling capability of the equipment.
Because there are 60 minutes in one hour, the payload is multiplied by 60 and divided by the cycle time.
When to use it
Use this formula when:
- Estimating mine production capacity.
- Comparing haul truck alternatives.
- Sizing haulage fleets.
- Evaluating productivity improvements.
- Planning mining operations.
Example
A haul truck carries 120 tonnes per trip and requires 24 minutes to complete a cycle.
Data:
C = 120 t
Tc = 24 min
Formula:
P = (60 × C) / Tc
Substitution:
P = (60 × 120) / 24
P = 7200 / 24
Result:
P = 300 t/h
The truck can theoretically transport 300 tonnes per hour.
Applications
- Open-pit mining
- Underground haulage
- Fleet optimization
- Production forecasting
- Equipment selection
- Mine planning
Note
This formula provides theoretical production assuming continuous operation without delays. Actual production is usually lower due to traffic congestion, loading queues, weather, road conditions, maintenance downtime, operator efficiency, and shift changes. Practical mine production calculations often apply utilization and availability factors.
