What is this formula?

This formula calculates carbon dioxide emissions from fuel consumption using an emission factor.


When to use it

Use it when estimating greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles, generators, boilers, furnaces, industrial processes, and energy systems.


Example

Data:


FC = 150 L/day


EF = 2.68 kg CO2/L


Formula:


ECO2 = FC × EF


Substitution:


ECO2 = 150 × 2.68


Result:


ECO2 = 402 kg CO2/day
