What is this formula?


The Moisture Removal Requirement equation calculates the amount of water that must be removed from grain during drying to reduce moisture content from an initial value to a desired final value.


When to use it

Example


Given:


M = 10000 kg

Mi = 20%

Mf = 13%


Formula:


Mw = M(Mi − Mf)/(100 − Mf)


Substitution:


Mw = 10000(20 − 13)/(100 − 13)


Mw = 10000 × 7 / 87


Mw = 804.60 kg


Result:


Approximately 804.60 kg of water must be removed from the grain.
