What is this formula?


The Hopper Volume equation calculates the storage volume of a conical hopper commonly used at the bottom of grain silos and bulk material storage structures.


When to use it

Example


Given:


D = 5 m

Hh = 4 m


Formula:


V = (π × D² × Hh) / 12


Substitution:


V = (π × 5² × 4) / 12


V = 26.18 m³


Result:


The hopper volume is approximately 26.18 m³.
