Rhombus Area and Perimeter
\[\begin{aligned} A &= \frac{d_1d_2}{2} \\ P &= 4a \end{aligned}\]

Variables

A = area
P = perimeter
d1 = major diagonal
d2 = minor diagonal
a = side length

Description

What is this formula?

This set of formulas calculates the area and perimeter of a rhombus using its diagonals and side length.

When to use it

Use these formulas in geometry, engineering, architecture, and design when analyzing diamond-shaped or rhombus-shaped figures.

Example

For a rhombus with diagonals 10 m and 8 m, and side length 6 m:

Area:

A = (10*8)/2 = 40 m²

Perimeter:

P = 4*6 = 24 m

Applications

- Geometric analysis

- Structural and architectural design

- Decorative and tiling patterns

- CAD and drafting

- Surface calculations
