Inscribed Angle

Inscribed Angle
\[\theta_i = \frac{\theta_c}{2}\]

Variables

thetaI = inscribed angle (rad)
thetaC = central angle (rad)

Description

What is this formula?

This formula calculates the inscribed angle of a circle from the corresponding central angle. An inscribed angle intercepting the same arc is always half the central angle.

When to use it

Use this formula when the central angle of an arc is known and the corresponding inscribed angle needs to be determined.

Example

If the central angle is 1.8 rad:

θi = 1.8 / 2 = 0.9 rad

Applications

- Geometry and trigonometry

- Circle theorem problems

- Engineering drawings

- CAD and drafting

- Educational mathematics
