Diameter from Circumference

Diameter from Circumference
\[d = \frac{C}{\pi}\]

Variables

d = diameter (m)
C = circumference (m)

Description

What is this formula?

This formula calculates the diameter of a circle from its circumference. The diameter is the straight-line distance passing through the center of the circle.

When to use it

Use this formula when the circumference of a circle is known and the diameter needs to be determined.

Example

If the circumference is 31.416 m:

d = 31.416 / π = 10 m

Applications

- Geometry and mathematics

- Engineering calculations

- Manufacturing and machining

- Pipe and tank sizing

- Circular object measurements
