Circumference of a Circle

Circumference of a Circle
\[C = 2\pi r\]

Variables

C = circumference (m)
r = radius (m)

Description

What is this formula?

This formula calculates the circumference of a circle from its radius. The circumference is the total distance around the circle.

When to use it

Use this formula when the radius of a circle is known and the perimeter or boundary length needs to be determined.

Example

If the radius of a circle is 5 m:

C = 2π(5) = 31.416 m

Applications

- Geometry and mathematics

- Engineering design

- Construction and architecture

- Mechanical components

- Circular motion calculations
